Alchemist Expands to Tokyo with Two New Outlets

Several Singaporean brands and companies have gained international recognition, and now coffee specialist Alchemist is set to join this list.

The well-known brand, famous for its minimalist style and with multiple cafes in Singapore, has opened its first overseas branches in Tokyo. The announcement was made on July 10.

The new outlets, launched in late June, are situated in Aoyama and Asakusa neighborhoods, offering over 10 types of coffee, as per the brand.

All coffee beans will be roasted in Singapore, and the Tokyo outlets will uphold Alchemist's belief in providing high-quality coffee that is approachable and inclusive for all.

Both outlets are two-story, with the Aoyama branch accommodating around 30 seats and the larger Asakusa outlet having about 70 seats.

Founder of Alchemist, Will Leow, shared that the decision to expand into Japan was influenced by their admiration for Japan's rich coffee culture and meticulous attention to detail.

Will Leow mentioned in a press release, "Our goal has always been to create meaningful connections through coffee. Venturing into Tokyo seemed like the next natural step for us, and we are grateful for the warm welcome from the local community. We look forward to sharing our coffee vision with enthusiasts in Japan."

Alchemist aims to establish 10 outlets across Tokyo by the end of 2028.

For those unfamiliar, Alchemist is a Singaporean coffee brand established in 2016, currently operating 11 outlets across the island.

Similar to the new Tokyo locations, each Singapore store boasts unique designs. They roast seasonal beans in small batches using methods tailored to each bean's characteristics, ensuring that each outlet consistently offers more than 10 coffee varieties.
