James Gunn Reveals Zack Snyder's Input on Superman's Iconic Red Trunks in New Film
Superman costume discussion

DC Studios head James Gunn has shared fascinating behind-the-scenes details about the creative process behind the new Superman costume, including a surprising consultation with Zack Snyder regarding the hero's classic red trunks.

The revelation comes as excitement builds for the upcoming Superman reboot, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. Fans have been particularly curious about whether Gunn would bring back Superman's traditional red trunks, which were notably absent from Henry Cavill's suit in Snyder's DC films.

In an exclusive interview with Fandango, Gunn disclosed that he reached out to Snyder for advice on this very topic. "I talked to Zack Snyder, who told me he experimented extensively with different trunk designs during his time working on Man of Steel," Gunn revealed. "He ultimately couldn't make them work visually for his version of Superman."

The director admitted he initially shared Snyder's perspective. "Theoretically I loved the idea because it represents the Superman I grew up with," Gunn explained to Variety. However, it was actually star David Corenswet who changed his mind about including them in the final design.

This costume discussion comes as Warner Bros. ramps up promotion for their highly anticipated superhero film, releasing a spectacular final trailer that gives fans their best look yet at Corenswet in action.

The new trailer showcases breathtaking action sequences while also hinting at deeper character development. The film promises to explore Clark Kent/Kal-El's journey as he navigates life between two worlds - Earth and his Kryptonian heritage - while maintaining his secret identity as Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent.

Corenswet brings fresh energy to one of pop culture's most enduring characters just months before its July 11 theatrical debut. The actor appears perfectly cast based on early footage that balances heroic spectacle with emotional depth.

Emma Bunton and Mel B 'reunited in South Korea'
Emma Bunton and Mel B reunited in November to take part in a reality TV show. The 49-year-old pop star and Mel secretly flew to Seoul, South Korea, in late 2024, when they sang alongside K-pop idols for a TV show. A source told The Sun newspaper: "A Spice Girls reunion is a way off. "So having Emma and Mel back on stage singing a Spice Girls song together might be the closest fans get to a comeback, even though it will be with K-pop stars rather than Geri Horner, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham. "They flew to South Korea at the end of last year and were on set for quite a few days as they battled it out with other pop veterans. "With them alone on board, it is a big show. But there’s also Boy George and loads of other chart-topping stars, which will be enough to encourage people to tune in." The reality show will air on Apple TV and will also feature the likes of Megan Thee Stallion and Psy, the 'Gangnam Style' singer. Meanwhile, Melanie recently revealed that she's ready to "start planning" a Spice Girls reunion. The 51-year-old singer would love to reunite with her bandmates to mark the 30th anniversary of 'Wannabe', the group's 1996 hit single. Melanie told Rebecca Judd On Apple Music 1: "There has to be something befitting of 30 years since ‘Wannabe’. "Once a Spice Girl, always a Spice Girl. We all feel like that, but we now are getting together because we know if we're going to do anything, we have to start planning things to get things right. "We have to start making the plans right now and putting them into action. So fingers crossed."
